Donations
Bellberry's constitution was set up to support and advance medical, scientific and public health research. Any surplus funds to operational costs are directed back to the Australian health research community.
Bellberry has now donated over $1,000,000 back into the research community.
Our significant donations include:
In 2009
- $300,000 University of Newcastle supplementary support for NHMRC applicants who missed the funding cut off by a very small margin.
- $100,000 Deakin University to provide supplementary funding to 5 PhD students within the Medical School.
In 2008
- $50,000 The University of Adelaide Floery Male Ageing Study
- $20,000 Monash University Mulitple Sclerosis Research
- $40,000 Curtin University/St John of God Hospital Masters Student Tissue Banking Research
- $20,000 Cardiovascular Outcomes Research Unit Adelaide Patient Factors Study
- $60,000 Private Cancer Physicians Association Australia
- $300,000 Flinders University supplementary support for NHMRC grant applicants who missed the funding cut off margin by a very small margin.
In 2007
- $70,000 to the Telethon Institute for Childhood Health Research in Western Australia to support research into less common childhood cancers.
- $50,000 to The George Institute for International Health in New South Wales
- $20,000 to Monash University to assist with an informed consent study for participants in clinical trials
- $20,000 to Monash University providing continued support to Professor Claude Bernard
- $20,000 to Monash University's Accident Research Centre
- $50,000 to University of Adelaide for support with stem cell research
In 2006
- $100,000 to University of South Australia for the inaugural Bellberry Scholarship to support a PhD student in the area of research and/or ethics.
- $80,000 to Monash University to support the work of Professor Komasaroff and his research into obesity and to further support Professor Bernard and his multiple sclerosis research.
- $40,000 to Royal District Nurisng Society to undertake a study into the management of palliative care medication in the home
- $40,000 to Queensland Institute Medical Research to assist in the upgrade of their FACS machine.
In 2005
- $30,000 to the Flinders Medical Centre Foundation to aid the building of the Flinders Centre for Innovation in Cancer
- $20,000 donation to Monash University to support the work of Professor Claude Bernard and his research into multiple sclerosis.
The selection of beneficiaries for donations remains the sole responsibility of the Bellberry Directors. No correspondence or requests for donations will be responded to.
